The first project was designed in 2003 by Rosa Topputo and Alessio Tommasetti for the Italian Research in Antarctic and never built !

The second project was designed in 2013 by Galliford Try for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and won AIA UK Excellence in Design Award – Best Scientific Building 2013
