CAMBIAMI on businessweek https://darcstudio.net/cambiami-on-businessweek/ https://darcstudio.net/cambiami-on-businessweek/#respond Wed, 06 May 2015 13:28:26 +0000 http://darcstudio.net/?p=6010 How 3-D Printing Is Saving the Italian Artisan

“Back in Trento, Pomini recently introduced customizable sunglasses, round frames with interchangeable accessories that can be clipped on and off. Since October, HSL has received unsolicited inquiries about the glasses from distributors in Ukraine, Greece, the U.S., and Brazil. The designer who created them, architect Rosa Topputo in Rome, took her inspiration from traditional Italian themes: hard angles taken from Italian rationalist architecture, a curlicue pattern derived from lacework typical of an island in the Venetian lagoon. Says Topputo: “Even when you do something with new technology, you can’t forget the aesthetics of the past.”

BIJOUETS PRESENTS CAMBIAMI #MFW15 https://darcstudio.net/cambiami_/ https://darcstudio.net/cambiami_/#respond Tue, 16 Sep 2014 13:50:59 +0000 http://darcstudio.net/?p=5859 BIJOUETS PRESENTS, ‘CAMBIAMI’

A single pair of sunglasses designed to be customized with interchangeable accessories in order to have a different look every day as a result of 3D printing technology

“It all lies in the frame” – Cambiami (change me), the new line of sunglasses created by .bijouets with 3D printing technology stems from the desire to have a changeable and customizable product that can adapt to every person’s daily mood swings. Cambiami is an eyewear line that comprises a basic frame and interchangeable accessories. Hence you can create your own glasses by choosing the color of frame and temples, and the decorative motifs. However, that is not all of it. You can also choose the shape of accessories from a series of proposals, and even customize them by creating unique versions based on your own creativity.

The basic frame is a classical round model that is intentionally ‘neutral’ and yet highly sophisticated… round lenses have made history in terms of style, suffice to think of Marylyn Monroe, John Lennon and many others. With smoky lens (Carl Zeiss), minimal frame and customizable accessories that can be applied, Cambiami glasses convey the allure of a star and the feeling that the product is unique, ironical and original, designed and produced outside standard lines. Furthermore, the round shape gives the impression of continuity and linearity to those who love a simple look, while the accessories create an intriguing look with a touch of folly with their natural and eccentric futuristic shapes.

All accessories are inspired by Italian beauty.

Burano – a series of decorations inspired by the embroidery and lace of the namesake Venetian island, born of the intention to bring to light ancient handcrafting techniques by exploiting digital instruments.

Rosae – a series that pays homage to spring in Rome and its outburst of colors. A symbol of vanity and beauty, the rose is associated with the myth of Venus.

Ratio – a series that combines a circle and a square to call to mind Italian rationalist architecture.

Depero – a series inspired by the multifaceted figure of the artist and by the entire Futuristic movement that, with unusual geometrical shapes, recalls the idea of speed, progress and innovation.

Produced and created by .bijouets, Trento, Cambiami glasses are the result of an idea of D’Arc Studio (Desperate Architects Rome City) which, established in Rome by Rosa Topputo and AlessioTommasetti in 2007, in partnership with Valentina De Santis, specializes in architecture and design.
